Project Management

Within Project Management, Sorbus Consulting offers two types of assignments.

The first is to take on a senior project manager or program manager role in one of the industries I have previously worked in, or related ones where my knowledge and experience would be required.

The second is to help companies improve their project management capabilities. Many changes in project management practices are taking place today with agile as the key word. Many of these changes  are difficult to handle, especially in traditional companies where agile is not the answer to everything and can sometimes have the opposite effect than intended. Here it is important to find what works best for your company with the aim of creating the right conditions for successful results.

Improvements in project management is often linked to the commitment and ability of each employee as well as a common understanding of how projects are run within your particular company. To accomplish major improvements you typically run a change program with focus on both the organization and project roles and practices. To stimulate engagement and competence development it has been found rewarding to invest in training paths, certifications and collaboration in project management communities as well as a project management competence framework.

I have a unique experience from such an initiative at the Volvo Group. During 6 years I managed a global company wide program for this particular development. With the insights from having done this for Sweden’s largest company and the positive results it has given, I see a great potential for more companies to invest in similar development.
